Building a Community of Park Stewards

There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer at the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. We offer a wide range of opportunities throughout the park, from one-day events to ongoing opportunities—there's something for everyone! Join us for a rewarding experience and make a difference in your national park. The park’s volunteer program is managed in partnership with the park’s philanthropic partner, Mississippi Park Connection (MPC). Depending on the volunteer position or event, volunteers will work with staff from the National Park Service, MPC, or trained volunteer leaders. Volunteers assist at our visitor center, habitat restoration events throughout the river corridor, field trips, park offices, programs & special events, and more.

Group Volunteer Requests

If you have a group of five (5) or more people who would like to volunteer, please complete MPC's volunteer group request form for your group event. We work closely with park staff and partners to identify rewarding projects that support park needs. While we do our best to find suitable projects, not all group requests can be accommodated due to staff capacity, group availability, or project availability.
