Evening Programs at
Morefield Campground
In 1907, archeologist Jesse Fewkes began the first evening campfire talks in the history of the National Park Service at Mesa Verde. That tradition continues today.
Expand your understanding of Mesa Verde National Park. Join rangers nightly at the Morefiield Campground Amphitheater for a free, 45-60 minute program (weather permitting). Topics vary and may include subjects such as Ancestral Pueblo farming techniques, macaws, trading goods, geology, mountain lions, and water.
When and Where
Programing dates change each year but generally begin around Memorial Day through mid August. Times also adjust throughout the summer as later in the season the sun sets earlier. Wednesday nights are dedicated night sky and star programs including telescope viewing. These special programs often extend into October.
The amphitheater is located at the end of the road in Morefield Campground.
