Description

In 1889, Johnstown, PA was flooded by a broken dam, prompting a massive response by the government and the Red Cross. Just four years later, most of the South Carolina Lowcountry was devastated by a hurricane. Park Ranger Rich Condon from Reconstruction Era National Historical Park and Park Ranger Doug Bosley from Johnston Flood National Memorial explore the varying responses to disasters during Reconstruction.
