The Douglas SBD Dauntless: Bringing the US to Victory at Midway

Description

Just six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Midway helped turn the tide of the Pacific War in favor of the United States. From June 4-7, 1942, the US Navy inflicted devastating damage on the Japanese fleet, sinking four aircraft carriers and one heavy cruiser, and destroying almost 250 aircraft. The Douglas SBD Dauntless naval scout plane and dive bomber played a pivotal role in the fight, leading to a US victory at Midway.
