Enjoy spectacular views of Glen Lake, undulating sand dunes, and breathtaking views of the grandest of all dunes, with shimmering Lake Michigan as the backdrop. Stopping at all twelve points on the 7.4-mile Scenic Drive will take about two hours.

Mather Point Bus Stop - Kaibab Rim (Orange) Route

From the Visitor Center shuttle bus terminal, Mather Point is the first stop on the Westbound Kaibab/Rim (Orange) Route. From here the bus travels to Yavapai Geology Museum, then returns directly to the Visitor Center. From this bus stop, a very short walk to the east will take you to a wide open vista of Grand Canyon. However, the wheelchair accessible, Mather Point overlook is a short walk further east (to the right when facing the canyon). Visit link for current schedule.

The Commandant's House is one of the oldest structures in the Charlestown Navy Yard, with panoramic views of Boston Harbor. Built in 1805, the building served as the private home for the first Commandant of the Navy Yard and his family, as well as an entertainment venue for some of the highest ranking naval officers of the time. Today, the Commandant's House has been preserved by the National Park Service as part of Boston National Historical Park.

PA Gradual Abolition of Slavery Act - March 1, 1780

In 1780 the Pennsylvania Assembly passed the Act for the Gradual Abolition of Slavery into law. It was the first of several legislative enactments to abolish slavery in the states between 1780 and 1804. The act stated, “every Negro and Mulatto child born within the state after the passing of the Act would be free upon reaching age twenty-eight.”

A short journey from the Carl Hayden Visitor Center, you will find the Wahweap Overlook. This high point offers a 360-degree panorama of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. It is a “must see” at anytime of day, however, sunrise and sunset adds a fusion of brilliant color to this awe-inspiring scene. There is a shade shelter and a bench for your viewing comfort. The overlook is open from sunrise to sunset.
