At Cuyahoga Valley National Park, an inventory of streams and their inhabitants is helping park managers understand and protect these vital waterways. The study revealed that most streams in the park are in good condition with minimal habitat damage. For the few streams facing challenges, conservation and restoration initiatives will help restore them to high ecological quality.

The Park Headquarters for Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River offers brochures, maps, passport cancellation stamps, a scenic river overlook, and access to a seasonal portable restroom. There is no visitor center or interpretive park rangers located at park headquarters. The buildings located at park headquarters are used for staff offices.

This non-profit history museum features interpretive panels and maps that tell the story of over 3000 North Carolina Cherokee prisoners in several detachments who camped and walked through Tellico Plains on the first leg of their journey to live in Indian Territory (Oklahoma). Visitors can view display cabinets of stone and clay tools and relics the local Overhill Cherokee used for farming, cooking, hunting, weapons and games.

Bull Boats During the Fur Trade

Commonly associated with the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara, bull boats were necessary to cross rivers in the West. Weighing as little as thirty pounds and made from the hide of bison, they replaced canoes west of Grand Portage as essential transportation for the fur trade in a landscape where birch was scarce.
Bright Angel Trailhead

Bright Angel Trailhead is located just west of Bright Angel Lodge, Lookout Studio, and Kolb Studio. At 6,840 feet (2,085 m), it provides access for hikers and mules to many inner canyon destinations. From the Hermit Road Interchange shuttle bus stops, it is a short walk to the east, and up a hill, on a paved footpath to the trailhead.
