Dive deeper into the history of Grand Teton National Park. Interpretive signs introduce topics like the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, grizzly bear research, geologic forces and features, glaciers, and the Hayden Survey. A large bronze tactile relief map will help orient you in relation to where you are in the park. Different peaks, canyons, lakes, falls, and other park features are labeled throughout the map.

The center operates from the childhood home of Pauli Murray, a civil rights activist, lawyer, educator, writer, and minister.

Current Archeological Prospection 2024: Advances for the 21st Century

In its 31st year, the workshop will be held May 13–17, 2024 at Gettysburg National Military Park in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Although the schedule is weather dependent, the general format will consist of lectures planned in the morning, afternoons dedicated to hands-on fieldwork, and short evening sessions oriented toward other topics like data processing.

The Theater at Valley Forge is located behind the visitor center and adjacent to the administration building and the Mini Grand Parade. Open to the public from 9 AM to 5 PM daily (except for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's Days), and the 19-minute orientation film is shown on the hour and the half-hour from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Uptown Shopping Center

The Uptown Shopping Center first welcomed customers in 1949 and was one of the first car-oriented shopping malls constructed in the United States. Although the Manhattan Project ended, the Hanford Site continued producing plutonium throughout the Cold War. The mall exemplifies the type of prosperity that the US Atomic Energy Commission promised to nuclear industry workers during the Cold War. Today, the shopping center is painted in an atomic-age design.

Landscapes of Change: Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

In the summer of 1999, the Cape Hatteras Light Station was moved 2,900 feet from the spot where it had stood since 1870. Because of shoreline erosion in this dynamic coastal environment, the lighthouse was now dangerously close to the ocean's edge. The remarkable undertaking including efforts to protect the structures, maintain the coastal setting of the original site, and preserve the original orientation to the shoreline and spatial arrangements of historic structures.

Archeology at L’Hermitage, a former plantation on the grounds of Monocacy National Battlefield in Frederick, Maryland, revealed several 18th and 19th century slave quarters. These dwellings were spaced and oriented to expose the careful planning and focus on order and symmetry on the part of the slaveholders, aimed at promoting supervision, control, and function over the lives and work of enslaved people.

Friendly staff, Civil War exhibits, the Passport to Your Parks stamps, Junior Ranger Handbooks, and a gift shop are available. One handicapped accessible restroom is located here. The Education Pavilion nearby is also stocked with information and Junior Ranger Handbooks.

Fairyland Orientation wayside

Follow this trail and discover nature’s fairyland of rock castles, cliffs, and spires. It begins with spectacular views from the rim, then continues down into the amphitheater, past fragile, towering hoodoos and cathedral walls. Changes in light create a mesmerizing, colorful palette at every turn. Look for the spur trail to Tower Bridge. Some of the named features along this loop are Boat Mesa, Sinking Ship, and Chinese Wall.
