North Kingstown, Rhode Island was the home of U.S. Naval Air Station (NAS) Quonset Point. The NAS was the main shipping facility for the Lend-Lease Program and a major naval base for both ships and airplanes. It was also the site of the first “quonset hut”, a lightweight military building that was easy to manufacture and assemble. The Navy also established Camp Endicott at Davisville, North Kingstown, as the main training facility for Navy Construction Batallions (Seabees).

Trisha Pritikin is a lawyer, writer, mother, downwinder, and most of all, an ardent activist. She served on the Hanford Health Effects Subcommittee (HHES), run by the federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). She has demanded accountability from federal agencies addressing civilian downwinder issues, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), The National Academy of Science (NAS), and the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH).

On June 9, 2022, members of NASA's SpaceX Crew-2 mission visited National Park Service Headquarters in Washington D.C. for a celebration of science, astronomy, art and exploration. SpaceX Crew-2 returned to earth last November after a record-setting six months at the International Space Station. During their visit, the crew met with park leadership and employees to learn about the National Park Service’s efforts to protect and preserve our dark skies.

The following two publications assess different methods for determining burn severity at a landscape scale. The case study, Assessing Wildfire Burn Severity and Its Relationship with Environmental Factors: A Case Study in Interior Alaska Boreal Forest, reviews various remote sensing methods for assessing burn severity at Shovel Creek and Nugget Creek fire in Fairbanks. The second article utilizes composite landsat imagery to assess burn severity in boreal forests of NA.

Kari (2019) introduces a theory of Na-Dene prehistory, "the Proto-Dene Lex Loci" that derives from Lexware dictionary files and cumulative place name for seven adjacent Alaska Dene languages. To investigate Dene prehistory in the Copper River and circum–Glacial Lake Atna (GLA) region, we discuss a selection of 67 Dene place names from seven Dene languages in four Alaska river basins.
