Waysides & ExhibitsExplore waysides along the Kwage Mesa Trail in Los Alamos. The six interpretive waysides along the trail describe life during the Manhattan Project on the isolated Pajarito Plateau. Los Alamos was responsible for the design and construction of the world’s first atomic weapons- the Gadget, the world’s first atomic test device, Little Boy, the uranium-fueled atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945, and Fat Man, the plutonium-fueled atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki three days later. |
