Where can I visit with my pet?

To help everyone enjoy the park and for the safety of you, your pet, and park wildlife, the following regulations apply in Mammoth Cave National Park.

• Pets are not permitted in caves or park buildings.

• Pets must be leashed (up to 6 feet) at all times.

• Leashed pets are allowed on all surface trails in the park.

The Woodland Cottages are the only in-park lodging that has pet friendly rooms.

Tips for a great visit with your pet

• Do not leave pets unattended outside or inside your vehicle.

• During the summer, high temperatures can affect your pet, ensure your pet has enough water and snacks for a hike in the park.

• Pet waste must be immediately collected and disposed of in the nearest trash can.

• Pets and their owners may encounter horse riders on park backcountry trails. Please move yourself and your pet to the side of the trail and keep your pet calm while the riders pass by.  

 

Beware of ticks!

Mammoth Cave National Park has a presence of ticks and other insects; we advise all pet owners to prepare for their visit by speaking with their vet and following any recommended measures such as tick treatments or tick collars.  

 

Day-Boarding Kennel

A kennel operated by The Lodge at Mammoth Cave can provide a safe place for your pet while you are on your cave tour.

• Dog and cat friendly kennels (not designed for small dogs)

• Day-boarding (during daylight hours only)

• Self-service outdoor kennels with covered shelter

$3.50 first hour. $1 per hour thereafter. $10 refundable lock and key deposit.

Proof of vaccination must be provided upon entering the kennel. Dogs need proof of current inoculation against rabies, DHLP, Bordetella, and parvo.

Service Animals

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are authorized entrance to all park caves and facilities open to the general public.
