Ranger-Led Activities
at Mammoth Cave National Park are offered by season. Please select from the links below to choose from the available seasons and see what activities best meet your needs. While cave temperatures can vary widely near entrances (especailly in winter), deep cave temperature is 54ºF (12ºC). You may wish to bring a light jacket during your tour.

NOTICE: Unless otherwise noted, the following items are not permitted on cave tours:

  • Strollers
  • Tripods
  • Metal framed backpacks and backpacks that are higher than the shoulder or that are of a length that extends below the hips (i.e. large trekking backpacks)
  • All child backpack carriers
  • Walking sticks
  • Firearms or weapons of any type

Flash photography is not permitted on cave tours.
Tickets are required to enter Mammoth Cave. Reservations are not required, but are strongly recommended. Cave tours frequently sell out and reservations are the only way to ensure a spot is available for you and/or your party. Please plan accordingly.

Have pets? Only service animals are allowed on cave tours. There are kennels at the Lodge at Mammoth Cave for rent where pets may stay while you enjoy your experience inside Mammoth Cave. Make sure you have your pet's vaccination papers with you verifying they have received rabies, DHLPP, and bordetella innoculations. For rates and other questions related to the kennels please contact the Lodge at Mammoth Cave at 270-758-2225.

Hearing Impaired Services for Visitors on Guided Activities
Mammoth Cave National Park is pleased to offer sign interpreter services for cave and surface activities to visitors free of charge. Arrangements can be made by contacting the park at the number located below. However, before contacting the park, please note:
All requests require a two week minimum notice prior to your visit.

Services are limited by tour group sizes and interpreter availability.

When calling, please have the date, name and time of the activity ready.

For further information or to make arrangements, please call 270.758.2417.
For visitors with hearing difficulty, assisted listening devices are available. These may be worn on cave or surface activities and are available for loan free of charge. They are on a first-come, first-served basis. Check at the visitor center for availability upon your arrival.
DO NOT rely on your mobile GPS, Google Maps™ or similar automated navigation system to get you to the park Visitor Center in time for your Cave Tour. Numerous visitors have reported that the device or service has taken them by way of the park's north side and required a river crossing by ferry, or backtracking over many miles, to reach the Visitor Center. In some instances, travelers have arrived too late to participate in their scheduled cave tour. In other cases drivers of large commercial vehicles have followed automatic navigation onto park roads that are prohibited and/or too narrow for them to traverse safely. When planning your trip to or through the park, take a few moments to review your route before you travel and arrive on time for the adventure you intended to have.

From the North: Take Interstate 65 to Exit 53 (Cave City Exit). Turn right onto KY-70. Follow 70/255 as it becomes the Mammoth Cave Parkway in the park. Follow the Mammoth Cave Parkway to the Visitor Center.

From the South: Take Interstate 65 to Exit 48 (Park City Exit). Turn left onto KY-255 and follow 255 as it becomes the Park City Road into the park. Follow Park City Road until it joins the Mammoth Cave Parkway; turn left. Follow the Mammoth Cave Parkway to the Visitor Center.
WNS Bat Symbol Notice: All participants on cave tours must walk on bio-security mats immediately following the conclusion of their tour. No exceptions. This extraordinary measure is due to the confirmation of White-Nose Syndrome in Kentucky. Your assistance is required to slow the spread of this fungal disease affecting bats.

Thank you for your cooperation.
