Get Fit with a Ranger
Find Health and Wellness in your National Park
Studies show that there is a strong positive connection between being outdoors and improved wellness. Improving physical fitness can lead to an increase in mobility and strength, as well as a decrease in health issues. An improvement in mental wellness can lead to a better quality of life and stronger relationships.National Parks across the country allow people of all abilities and backgrounds to find their way into the outdoors for various reasons. Whether it is to learn about a historic battle or person, follow the path of those who have traveled long distances in the past, or travel over differing terrain to view beautiful natural features, visitors of National Parks are benefitting from spending time outside.
This summer, Mammoth Cave National Park rangers are offering wellness activities for the public and local communities to increase both physical and mental wellness. This is an on-going series, with more events being planned. Check back frequently for more wellness events.

Join us to explore how walking can improve your health, both physical and mental. Whether you want to walk for cardio fitness, stress reduction, or mindfulness and peace, join a Ranger on Saturday mornings at the Echo River Springs trailhead located near the Green River Ferry Parking Lot in Mammoth Cave National Park. You do not need to be an experienced walker to join in: all ages and levels of fitness are welcome.
The 45-minute sessions will include safety information as well as information on the benefits of different types of walking followed by a gentle stretch and walking at your own pace. The setting is the wheelchair-accessible Echo River Springs trail, near the Green River Ferry. The time is 8:45 a.m. on Saturday July 8th and Saturday July 15th. Please bring a mat or beach towel for stretching; water and snacks as needed.
