MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. — Mammoth Cave National Park law enforcement officers will conduct periodic sobriety and safety checkpoints on park roads and riverways throughout the remainder of 2026.

These operations are designed to:

  • Identify drivers and boat operators who may be impaired by drugs or alcohol.
  • Address vehicle or equipment safety issues.
  • Confirm valid driver licensing.
Proactive safety efforts help reduce incidents of impaired driving and raise public awareness about the dangers associated with operating a vehicle or watercraft under the influence. During checkpoint operations, officers will briefly contact motorists and boaters to look for signs of impairment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Checkpoint operations will be conducted as efficiently as possible and are not expected to create significant delays for visitors.
