Park Superintendent Barclay Trimble addressing new citizens during a naturalization ceremony in Mammoth Cave.

Welcome to the official website of Mammoth Cave National Park, home to the longest cave system in the world. Mammoth Cave welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and we have done our best to provide all the information you will need to learn about our incredible park and plan your next adventure.

If you are like most of our visitors, you have been drawn to our park because of our most famous resource: Mammoth Cave. To truly experience the cave you will want to do what millions before you have done for over 200 years and go along on one of our famous cave tours. You’ll find our cave tour selection is varied, just like our visitors, so look around to find a tour that best fits your interests. Whether it is a leisurely stroll through one of the large and open passageways, or a strenuous crawl through a tight and twisting tube, there is a tour here for you.

As you continue to explore our website you’ll find Mammoth Cave is full of amazing human stories of exploration and discovery that dates back thousands of years and a geologic history that leaves visitors in wonder of the unprecedented labyrinth that lies below our surface. Flora and fauna abound in dark and mysterious cave ecosystems, watersheds and lush forested landscapes throughout almost 53,000 acres of parkland. Make sure to learn about the rich history and natural systems that have earned Mammoth Cave a designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve.

And while the cave is what typically brings people to our park, don’t miss out on the recreational activities that are found above ground, too. There are plenty of things to do on over 85 miles of surface trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping, and wonderful paddling and fishing opportunities along over 30 miles of the Green and Nolin Rivers. The park and our neighboring communities have plenty to offer for your next visit to south central Kentucky.

However you may choose to spend your time at Mammoth Cave National Park, I want to thank you for visiting our website to help plan your next adventure. We hope you found what you needed or were inspired to learn more about this spectacular national park. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Barclay C. Trimble
Superintendent
