Physical access to the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries directly impacts quality of life, local economies, and long-term conservation. Increasing public access to local waterways for recreational activities fosters a shared sense of responsibility and increased stewardship. NPS Chesapeake is leading the Chesapeake Bay Program in implementing actions to achieve the Public Access Goal of expanding public access to the Bay and its tributaries through existing and new local, state, and federal parks, refuges, reserves, trails, and partner sites. The articles below highlight some of the important work happening to make this goal a reality. To learn more about the Public Access Goal, click this link.
