A new year is upon us, as is the time to post photos from the Western Arctic National Parklands taken during the last month. The following photos were taken on 2 December 2012 during a flight where we documented the meager snow depths and radio-tracked muskoxen and dolly varden in and around Noatak National Preserve and Cape Krusenstern National Monument. The time between sunrise and sunset dwindles to less than two hours on the winter solstice, so we fly less often and have few photos to choose from. Nevertheless, we hope you enjoy a glimpse of the Parks in December.
