Professional Development

Keweenaw National Historical Park (Keweenaw NHP) is committed to supporting the ongoing professional development of educators. Educator workshops are an opportunity to share park resources and give educators ideas on how to incorporate them into their classroom. Keweenaw NHP hosts different workshops throughout the school year and summer. Look here for professional development opportunities that the park will be offering in the future.

Copper TRACES Traveling Trunk Workshop - July 2018

Copper TRACES is a fun, educational field day for fourth graders and fourth grade equivalents at the Calumet Unit of Keweenaw National Historical Park in Calumet, MI each May. Area teachers joined Keweenaw NHP education staff during the summer of 2018 to develop traveling trunks that will be a new addition to the program. The traveling trunks will provide an introduction to the Copper TRACES concept for students by providing immersive activities for the classroom. Trunks will be evaluated in the fall of 2018 and available for check out beginning in winter 2019.
