Martinez, Calif. – Join the National Park Service for a free campfire program on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at John Muir National Historic Site (NHS) in Martinez, California. The program begins at 5:00 p.m. and lasts roughly 2 hours. This special campfire program will be hosted by rangers from the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail. Step back into early California, when the Martinez Adobe was the heart of Rancho Pinole. The musical group Los Arribeños de San Francisco, led by Lance Beeson – a descendant of the Anza Expedition’s Second in Command Jose Joaquin Moraga – will share the songs, dances, and games of the Spanish and Mexican eras of Alta California.

Tumacácori National Historical Park will offer hikers the opportunity to walk the four-mile stretch of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail between Tumacácori and Tubac Presidio State Historic Park, catching a free ride back to their starting point.

Tumacácori National Historical Park will offer visitors two special opportunities this Veterans Day weekend - a free shuttle to transport hikers between the Tubac Presidio and Tumacácori, and free entrance to Tumacácori for all visitors.
