Welcome to Joshua Tree National Park. We are working to enhance the lives of people in our community through the fun of recreation while promoting development and growth through our programs. Recreation and activities help can develop visitor’s social skills, physical and emotional health, independence and self-confidence, community integration, and sense of adventure. Our staff makes every effort to ensure that children, youth, and adults of all abilities are fully included in our recreation programs and all of our facilities. 

 

General Information

Entrance Fees

U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are permanently disabled are eligible for the Interagency Access Pass. This free, lifetime admission pass is valid at National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Forest Service, and Bureau of Reclamation sites.

• Must be obtained with valid identification
• Does not cover or reduce special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessioners
• Available at park entrance stations, most visitor centers, and online; admits pass owner and passengers in a private vehicle

Parking Placards - For Visitors

If you are visiting California and would like to use Accessible Parking spaces, you must apply for a California “Temporary Parking Placard” for non-residents, good for up to 180 days. Out-of-state placards are not honored in California. Visit California's DMV website.

 

Visitor Centers

Staff and volunteers at the information desk can assist you. All areas of visitor centers and restrooms are accessible to persons using wheelchairs. Pay phones are not available. We have three visitor centers:

• Oasis Visitor Center
  74485 National Park Drive, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277
• Joshua Tree Visitor Center
  This location is owned by the Joshua Tree National Park Association. They are working on making this facility universally accessible.

• Cottonwood Visitor Center
  Exit 168 on I-10, head 6 miles north

 

For your health

Air Quality

Air pollution produced in eastern states is often carried into California by the wind. Park staff monitor ozone levels so that they can issue ozone advisories if levels are dangerous to people with respiratory conditions. For more information visit Current Conditions.

Medical Information

Call 911 for emergency medical or police assistance or to report accidents or injuries.

For visitor use in the park where cell phones do not work, there are emergency phones at:

• Indian Cove Ranger Station--hand held style
• Intersection Rock parking area near Hidden Valley Campground--push button style
• Cottonwood Visitor Center--push button style
