James S. McCord owned McCord and Company, a wholsale hatters business. McCord and Company was said to be, "The oldest house west of the mountains in this line of business." Additionally, he served as director and vice-president of the Armenia Insurance Company alongside fellow South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club member William T. Dunn. He was also director of the Third National Bank of Pittsburgh and was a corporator of Allegheny Cemetery from the years 1884 through 1894. He married Sarah Thompson. The McCord's had at least three children: Arthur Parke McCord; Joseph E. McCord; and James McCord. In 1880, the McCord's resided next door to the Charles Clarke family, also members of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club. James S. McCord died in 1894 and was buried in Allegheny Cemetery. |
