WHAT: On Saturday, June 14, Jefferson National Expansion Memorial will celebrate National Get Outdoors Day with Get Outdoors at the Gateway Arch. Those of all ages are invited to the park grounds for this FREE event where local and regional organizations will showcase their dedication to outdoor recreation; and encourage families to get outside and explore nature.

"We are committed to demonstrating the exciting outdoor activities St. Louis has to offer at Get Outdoors at the Gateway Arch," said Ann Honious, Chief, Museum Services and Interpretation, Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. "This year's event includes something for everyone—whether you're looking for an outdoor thrill or hoping to learn more about nature's offerings—that encourages education, exploration and adventure." 
 
The day’s free, family-friendly activities include a family-fun walk, rock climbing wall, fitness sessions, live music, amateur radio demonstrations, geocaching, orienteering, a bicycle safety town, solar-powered s’mores cooking, hoop dance demonstrations, an Ultimate Frisbee exhibition game, disc golf, Bobber the Water Safety Dog, and much more! 
 
NPS partners Bi-State Development Agency and Jefferson National Parks Association will also be participating in the event. Please find a full list of event participants below.

 WHO  WHAT
Boy Scouts of America  Visitors will perfect their pioneering skills with various camping, first aid and slag-line activities. 
City of St. Louis Mayor's Office  The Mayor's Office will share information on it's Sustainable Neighborhoods Initiative such as Milkweeds for Monarchs, the St. Louis Butterfly Project,; as well as host "Butterfly Bingo' for kids. 
Earth Ways Center of Missouri Botanical Garden  Experts will educate visitors on conserving energy and how to be more sustainable. Participants will learn how to cook "solar s'mores" with a solar oven. 
Great River Greenway  Visitors will learn about the St. Louis region's system of trails and greenways, as well as the Bike St. Louis on street bike plan. 
Jefferson National Parks Association  JNPA will sell merchandise related to outdoor activities and National Parks. 
Leftovers Etc.  This arts and science learning center will lead kids' craft time using recycled goods 
Metro/Bi-State Development Agency  Adults and kids can learn more about the Gateway Arch Experience, and receive informational maps that detail the region's Metro transit.
Missouri Department of Natural Resources  Visitors will learn about outdoor recreation programs at DNR sites across the state of Missouri. 
National Park Service  NPS will share details of downtown St. Louis's national park, jefferson National Expansion Memorial. 
Photogenic  Event goers can say cheese at this photo opportunity in front of a scale model of the Gateway Arch. 
Recreation Council of Greater St. Louis  Individuals will receive information of recreational opportunities for those with developmental disabilities in St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County. 
Safe Kids St. Louis  Safe Kids, Cardinal Glennon's injury prevention center, will educate guests with their Bike Safety Town. 
St. Louis Geocachers Association  Children and adults will learn how to use a GPS receiver to find hidden geocaches on this course. 
St. Louis County Amateur Radio Emergency Service  This emergency communications provider will demonstrate basic amateur radio equipment, and allow visitors to interact with station and handheld radios. 
St. Louis County Health Department  Educators will use interactive displays to share nutrition and physical activity tips. 
St. Louis Disc Golf Club  The club will set up a mini disc golf (Frisbee golf) course on the park grounds. 
St. Louis Hoop Club  Instructors will offer creative exercise demonstrations through hoop dance and hoop fitness. At 10 am under the Arch 
St. Louis Orienteering Club  Visitors will learn how to use a map and compass to navigate a special orienteering course (beginner and advanced courses available). 
St. Louis Ultimate Association  SLUA will provide a disc skills activity for festival participants, and invite members of the Ultimate community to participate in an exhibition game at 11 am under the Arch. 
South City YMCA  The YMCA team will lead the following fitness classes: 9 am, Yoga (under the Arch); 9:30 am, PiYo® (west of the teardrop); 10:30 am, Insanity® (west of the teardrop) and 11:30 am, Zumba® (west of the teardrop). 
Troutbusters of Missouri  This nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people recover from trauma with fly fishing will demonstrate tying flies and decorative pins, and teach visitors the art of fly casting with a fly rod. 
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers  Visitors will interact with Bobber the Water Safety Dog. 
Upper Limits Indoor Climbing Gym  Visitors can test their boulder and climbing skills by ascending the rock-climbing tower. 
Whole Foods  Whole Foods will demonstrate healthy eating and provide trail mix to event goers. 
Live music by Wildheart  Emmy® Award Winning educators and entertainers Jan and George Syrigos captivate young audiences with songs about science, wildlife exploration and natural history. 
Yoga Rocks the Park  at 12:30 pm, Yoga Rock the Park rocks Get Outdoors with yoga demos, partner yoga, and sharing tips on at-home yoga all while accompanied by live music! 
 

PARKING AND ROAD CLOSURES: Parking is available at the Gateway Arch Parking Garage, located at 200 Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis. Visitors are encouraged to check www.gatewayarch.com/directions beforehand for the most up-to-date information on road detours and construction surrounding the Arch grounds.

ABOUT:
The Gateway Arch and the Old Courthouse are part of Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, located on the riverfront in downtown St. Louis. The Gateway Arch is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm, except during the winter months, when hours are 9 am to 6 pm, from Labor Day through Memorial Day weekend. The Old Courthouse is open daily year-round from 8 am to 4:30 pm. The Gateway Arch and Old Courthouse are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Most programs are FREE of charge and open to the public.
