Every year, the National Writing Project, in partnership with the National Park Service, conducts a Write Out: a free two-week celebration of writing, making, and sharing inspired by the great outdoors. It is an opportunity for the public to get out, create, and explore national parks and other public spaces. The goal is to connect and learn through place-based writing and sharing using the common hashtag #writeout. Gateway Arch National Park, working with the University of St. Louis' Gateway Writing Project, will be a proud participant in this year's Write Out!
STEAM-PoweredThis year’s Write Out is STEAM- Powered (STEAM = Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) and will run October 9-23, 2022. Here in St. Louis, we will focus on the E in STEAM and think about the great engineering around our city: specifically the Gateway Arch, Eads Bridge, and the Old Courthouse. Write Out will be organized around the use of notebooks and journals that inspire observing, describing, and annotating...just like STEAM professionals do!
