Currently one of the world's longest caves, Jewel Cave provides for one-of-a-kind classroom-based or experiential education.

Whether your class is in the park or visiting online, unique opportunities for learning and adventure await your students.

Education Programs are available September 15th through June 15th. Please submit request forms at least one month in advance. Rangers will attempt to accommodate requests made outside of this time frame, but programs are not guaranteed.

Field Trips

Field trips can take place in the cave or on the trail! These programs can adjust to fit your group and curriculum needs.

Parks in Classrooms

Rangers can visit local schools and educational institutions to provide programming about Jewel Cave and the Black Hills.

Distance Learning

Not everyone can make it to Jewel Cave in person, but we have a wide variety of options for virtual programs and distance learning.

The main phone line connects visitors with staff at the visitor center. Throughout the year, the phone line is monitored by staff on a daily basis, excluding holidays and days with limited visitor services. Please be advised that after-hours messages are not taken on the system; visitors are encouraged to call the visitor center during normal operations and speak with a park ranger for assistance.
