Permits

A permit is required for anyone overnighting at Isle Royale in a campground, in a designated cross country camping zone, at a dock, or at anchor.

A small party permit (1-6 people) is required for all who stay overnight in campgrounds.

Camping outside of designated campgrounds requires a cross-country camping permit.

Groups of 7 or more people need a group camping permit and advance reservations.

Reservations for lodging and transportation service to and from Isle Royale is highly recommended.

Reserve your ferry transportation to and from the island ahead of time.

Reserve seaplane transportation to and from the island ahead of time.

Isle Royale Resorts offers overnight accommodations at Rock Harbor Lodge and the Windigo Camper Cabins.
