The majority of the content available on the History & Culture: Mines website has been derived from the 1965 work, "Historic Mining on Isle Royale," authored by Lawrence Rakestraw and published through a collaborative effort between Isle Royale National Park and the Isle Royale Natural History Association (now known as the Isle Royale Keweenaw Parks Association).
