Taking the Pulse of the Parks
There are 32 National Park Service Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) Networks across the United States. The Rocky Mountain Network is one of these networks and comprises six National Park Service units located in Colorado and Montana.
Network ecologists monitor key indicators of park health (called "vital signs") to help protect and manage national parks in the Rocky Mountains. Our monitoring is science-based, connected to park management, and long-term (over years and decades). In this way, we help ensure that our national treasures are conserved, unimpaired for future generations.
