The National Park Service has partnered with a number of community organizations, academic institutions, companies, researchers, students and other individuals whose work on Honouliuli has ranged from interpretation, exhibition and education to archeological surveys and cultural resource assessments. When the time comes to start working on plans for the physical development of the site, NPS planning staff looks forward to engaging with our stakeholders in a participatory process to ensure that the design of Honouliuli National Historic Site is strongly informed by local expertise and knowledge. Key project partners include the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i (JCCH) and the University of Hawai'i West O'ahu (UHWO), whose ongoing scholarship and awareness campaigns have been invaluable in uncovering the history of the Honouliuli Camp and bringing the history to the public eye on both a local and national scale. Monsanto has also been a critical partner, in supporting the interpretive work of the JCCH and donating the land for the Honouliuli National Historic Site to the National Park Service for management and development.
