Every year, fiddlers from all over converge at Homestead National Historical Park in Beatrice, Nebraska to compete and demonstrate their skills. Competitive categories have historically included "Juniors," "Seniors," "Picking," "Band," "Legends," etc. Homestead National Historical Park's Tallgrass Prairie Fiddle Festival is an annual event, and occurs every Memorial Saturday. For those competing in the various competitive categories, there is prize money, and for those attending, there's competition and great music. Come one, come all! Photo Gallery 2024 Tallgrass Prairie Fiddle ...56 Images The 2024 Tallgrass Prairie Fiddle Festival took place over two days. Day one began with a fiddle workshop led by Terry Keefe and Steve Hanson. It was followed, starting at noon, by competitive performances in Junior (<5 years playing fiddle), Senior (>5 years playing fiddle), Picking (any non-fiddle/violin stringed instrument), and Band categories. Cash prizes and trophies were delivered to the winners. Chris Sayre MC'd, and judges Matt Richardson, Nissa Everson, and head judge Terry Keefe evaluated the competitors in each division. Day two centered around music, dancing, and performance, as the dancing fiddler, Hillary Klug, joined by Terry Keefe and Dave Marsh, led a buck dancing workshop, held a jam session, and performed. |
