Operating Hours & Seasons

Hopewell Furnace is open year round. Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. operation will commence second Monday of October and conclude Memorial Day returning to seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. between Memorial Day and Indigenous Peoples Day.

The park is open on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples Day and Veterans Day. It is closed all other federal holidays. On days Hopewell Furnace is closed, its historic buildings, parking lot and visitor center (including rest rooms) are unavailable for use, but its trails (which interconnect with those of neighboring French Creek State Park) remain open.

On select days of the park's summer season, visitors can experience the lifestyles and operations of the historic iron making community through demonstrations and living history programs. Activities occur on days staffing is available and vary from day to day.

During September and October the park's historic apple orchard is opened for picking by the public. The park's orchard includes many historic varieties not normally available in today's markets. Length of season and availability of varieties depends upon the success of the growing season. The apples are sold by the pound. See Apple Picking.
