The Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) completed the photographic documentation of The Forty Acres, the National Historic Landmark closely associated with the life of César Estrada Chávez. Forty Acres, located in Delano, California, served as the headquarters for the first permanent agricultural labor union in the United States, the United Farm Workers of America (UFW). Multiple contextual, large-format, black and white, photographs were taken in 2012 of the complex as well as of the interior and exterior of the Tomasa Zapata Gas Station (location of Chávez's first public fast which brought an unprecedented level of national attention and support to the farmworker movement), the Roy L. Reuther Memorial Building, Rodrigo Terronez Memorial Clinic, Paolo Agbayani Retirement Village, and Reuther Stone Memorial. The final comprehensive HABS documentation of Forty Acres also includes historical reports and as-built measured drawings.
