There are many accessibility features at Hamilton Grange.

Hamilton Grange National Memorial strives to make your visit more enjoyable by making the facilities as accessible as possible. This page and its links provide descriptions of the facilities, services, and opportunities for persons with sight, hearing, and mobility disabilities. We hope it helps you have an enjoyable visit to the park. Service Animals

Service animals are allowed in National Parks. For a definition of a service animal, please go to www.ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm. Service animals are allowed in all facilities but must always be leashed.

Vision Impaired

Vision-Impaired visitors who wish to take advantage of our audio assistive products may request a device at the visitor desk upon arrival. GuidePORT® is a wireless, digital visitor guidance system. On the visitor's end, it consists of a user device that can fit in the palm of the hand and an earpiece. The system at Hamilton Grange National Memorial incorporates both automatic playback components and manual playback components. With the former type, the system automatically plays the information, while with the latter, the visitors can key in what he or she listens to. There are two different options at Hamilton Grange National Memorial for the vision-impaired:

· Audio Live Feed: Provides enhanced audio synchronized with the film shown in the visitor center.

· Audio Description Tour: This option offers descriptions of all exhibits and rooms for the vision-impaired. The stations for this option are indicated by white plastic tiles with an "AD" symbol and a number in the 200 sequence (i.e.: 201, 202, etc.)

Mobility Impaired

Alert: The lift providing access to the historic floor of the Hamilton Grange is currently out of service. The historic floor is only accessible by climbing a flight of 15 stairs.

The visitor center floor, which includes the book store, theater, exhibits and rest rooms, is located on ground level. The Historic Floor, which contains the period rooms, is located on the second floor of the house. There are ten stairs leading to this floor. The stairs are steeper than standard stairs.

There is an elevator lift on site that allows visitors to gain access to the Historic Floor without the use of stairs. If you require the use of the lift, please contact the park a week in advance of your visit by calling (646) 548 - 2310.

Hearing Impaired

· Audio Live Feed: Provides enhanced audio synchronized with the film shown in the visitor center.

· A scripted guided Ranger tour of the historic floor is available upon request and it also can be found HERE for a personal copy.

· Printed park material of our site and other parks in New York are available.
