School Group Requests

The staff at Hamilton Grange National Memorial would like to extend an invitation to you and your class! National Parks and National Memorials are places where you and your students can experience the power of history. The information contained in this website will help you prepare for your visit in order to ensure a successful learning experience at our site. We look forward to seeing you and your students during the current school year!

Field Trips to Hamilton Grange

• Are free of charge.
• Are led by National Park Service Rangers.
• Are offered on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am - 2 pm.
• Require Reservations.

Field trips can include: a viewing of the 15-minute video titled, "Alexander Hamilton," a viewing of the 9-minute video titled, "Moving The Grange," a 30-minute tour, and a Q&A session. We are able to host each group for a maximum of 1 hour each. Please note that the maximum group size that we are able to accomodate is 15 students.

Field Trip Offerings

 

Elementary Educational Tour

This tour is provides a 30-minute site walkthrough. Students will be asked to consider the term "legacy", and how the house represents the legacy of Hamilton/early America. Considering this angle, students will be introduced to the concepts of living in the early 1800's and how our lives compare today. The history of Harlem/New York City will be introduced, and concepts of landscape change (rural to urban settings) will be explored from the context of The Grange. Standard Grange Tour

Better suited for middle school and up, this tour covers the basics of The Grange and its history. Touching upon subjects such as Alexander Hamilton, the building of The Grange, early Harlem history, artifacts within the home, the restoration of the home, and more, it is a good introduction into the various topics of the house.

Rangers will be able to accommodate topical requests with enough notice. If your group would like to focus on a specific topic within The Grange, just let us know.

Privacy Act Statement

Authority: Public Law 114-289 National Park Service Centennial Act and 54 U.S.C. 100701 Protection, interpretation, and research in System.

Purpose: To administer education programs for education audiences including but not limited to school groups, scouting groups, extracurricular groups, and home school groups.

Routine Uses: To effectively manage requests for education received by the NPS, the Education Reservation Request Form is used to collect basic education reservation information to facilitate operational aspects of scheduling groups for park education programs, including in-park education programs, ranger in classroom programs, and/or online distance learning programs.

Disclosure: Voluntary, however, failure to provide the requested information may impede the ability to grant your education reservation request.
