Pets

In order to keep pets safe and protect natural resources, pets are not allowed in many areas of the monument. Please consider leaving pets at home when visiting.

Where Pets are Allowed

  • In paved parking areas
  • On paved roads and walkways

Additionally,

  • Dogs must be on a leash (of six feet or less) at all times.
  • All pet waste must be properly disposed of.

Where Pets are Not Allowed

  • Inside the visitor center
  • On hiking trails and in undeveloped areas

Service Dogs

Dogs classified as service animals are individually trained to perform a specific task that assists a person with a disability. Service dogs are legally permitted anywhere that visitors can go. Learn more about requirements for service animals. Emotional support, therapy, and companion animals, as well as service animals in training, are not service animals and must abide by all pet regulations.
