The picnic area at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is next to the visitor center parking lot (171 Shoreline Drive, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425). There is plenty of parking for vehicles and buses. There are five accessible parking spaces on the edge of the parking lot by the picnic area.

The picnic area has 14 tables in a mostly shaded area. Restroom facilities are available at the Visitor Center plaza.

  • Picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Please remember to clean your area, including the ground area and the table, after each use.
  • Remember to follow the park’s trash-free rules: please be prepared to dispose of your trash and recycling properly by carrying it out of the park when you leave.
  • No alcohol or fires of any kind are allowed in the park. The cooking of food on portable grills, open fires, or other cooking devices is prohibited.

Accessibility

Each picnic table sits on a concrete pad next to a paved sidewalk. Three of the tables have paved paths connecting to the sidewalk, larger concrete pads, and overhangs at the ends of the tables to better accommodate visitors using wheelchairs.
