Overnight parking is permitted in Harpers Ferry National Historical Park for Appalachian Trail hikers or C&O Canal bikers at the visitor center parking lot at 171 Shoreline Drive. Overnight parking is limited to 14 days (up to 30 days with approval of the Chief Ranger), and the National Park Service assumes no responsibility for the vehicle itself or its contents.
To apply for overnight parking, please inquire about a vehicle permit form at the visitor center during normal operating hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or email us.
Please plan in advance and keep the following in mind:
- Applications are subject to approval.
- If you request the permit form via email, it may take up to three days to receive a response. Note also that email address at the link above is not monitored during the weekends.
- Shuttle bus service is only provided to Lower Town Harpers Ferry during normal business hours.
- Shuttle buses have the capability to transport bicycles.
- Hiking packs are allowed on the buses.
- Entrance fees to the national park do apply.
