Accessible Areas

Fishing Piers: The fishing piers in Florida (Fort Pickens Area) and Mississippi (Davis Bayou Area) are accessible.

Indoor Exhibits: All visitor centers and other indoor exhibit areas are wheelchair accessible. Each exhibit offers braille, audio descriptions, and open captioning.

Campgrounds: Accessible camping sites are available at both campgrounds. To reserve a site at the Fort Pickens campground, call the campground registration office at 850-934-2622. To reserve an accessible site in the Davis Bayou campground, visit recreation.gov.

Golf carts are allowed in the campground for persons with Americans with Disability Act (ADA) mobility impairments for access to campground facilities only.

Nature Trails: There are designated, accessible nature trails in the Perdido Key, Naval Live Oaks, and Davis Bayou areas. The trail in the Naval Live Oaks Area features tactile exhibits. The boardwalk in the Davis Bayou area is currently under repair - we apologize for the inconvenience.

Other Facilities & Parking: There is accessible parking located at all facilities and beach access points. All restrooms and picnic pavilions are accessible.

Limited Access: Due to their historic nature, mobility access is limited in historic forts and batteries.

Park Quiet Areas: Naval Live Oaks, Davis Bayou, and Opal Beach provide areas for visitors seeking distance from people and little disruption to feel at peace.

Passes: The Access Pass is a free, lifetime pass available to United States citizens or permanent residents, regardless of age, that have a permanent disability that can be used at over 2,000 Federal recreation sites across the nation, including National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, and many National Forest lands. Members with an Access pass receive 50 percent off campground reservations at Gulf Islands National Seashore.

Additional accomodations: If you would like to request something not mentioned or make a suggestion for improvement, please email the park at guis_information@nps.gov.
