Ocean Springs, Miss. – Contractors for the National Park Service will begin the removal and replacement of the Davis Bayou boat ramp on Monday, August 5. The boat ramp and finger piers will be closed through the duration of the project, which is expected to last for about two months.  A portion of the parking lot will be closed for replacement operations, other areas will remain open for shore fishing. The kayak launch into the Davis Bayou Blueway is not impacted by this project.

The replacement project will completely remove the concrete boat ramp slab, as well as, the finger piers associated with the boat ramp. The new boat ramp, pilings, and finger piers will be installed in the same layout as the current ramp. Construction updates will be posted on the park’s website and social media platforms.

The boat ramp was built during the Magnolia State Park era before the national seashore was established. It is a popular departure point for boaters in the area and was recently made free for use. “We’re excited to continue making significant infrastructure improvements in the Davis Bayou Area to serve the local community and our visitors,” said Deputy Superintendent Steve McCoy. Recent projects have included the reconstruction of the Davis Bayou Fishing Pier, roofing work on the picnic pavilions, and the replacement of the bulkhead near the boat ramp.
