Service Animals

Service animals are allowed in national parks. See the Americans with Disability Act’s (ADA) definition of a service animal for more help. Explore our Pets page for more information.

For the safety and well-being of your service animal, please keep in mind:

  • Rules: Animals in Greenbelt Park must be kept on a leash at all times.

  • Water: Each campground has yard hydrants located inside and outside of the loop. The hydrants have a lever that may take more than 5 pounds of strength to operate. Bathing, washing, or attaching hoses of any kind are not allowed at the hydrants.

  • Weather and Site Conditions: Pathways in and around the campgrounds, picnic areas, and trails may be uneven. Pathways may become snowy or icy in winter conditions.

  • Animal Waste: All animal waste should be immediately collected by the animal’s handler and disposed of in the dumpsters. Waste fluids may be disposed of at the dump station in Loop C.

  • Wildlife: Wildlife has been seen crossing through campgrounds, picnic areas, and trails. Please be aware of potential wildlife interactions with your service animal.
