The North Rim Is Open for Day Use Only

ALERT: Bright Angel Point Trail —from Grand Canyon Lodge to Bright Angel Point —is closed this fall for extensive repairs. Details

Visitors exploring the North Rim on, or after, October 16 should plan to be self-sufficient and bring enough food and water for the day.

Ranger Program Schedule - May 15, through October 15, 2024

  • Nature Walk
    Sundays and Fridays, 8:30 - 10:00 am
    Meet at the Roaring Springs Overlook Kiosk
    Immerse yourself in the immensity of Grand Canyon and the intricacies of the Kaibab Plateau during this ranger-led walk along the Transept Trail.
  • Behind the Scenery
    Daily, 11:30 - 12:00 pm
    Meet at the Bright Angel Point Amphitheater
    Explore your connections and uncover the stories between the canyon’s colorful walls during this ranger-led experience.
  • Beneath the Canopy
    Daily, 3:30 - 4:00 pm
    Meet at the Campground Amphitheater
    Follow your curiosity and discover the wonder of the towering North Rim forest. All are welcome to join this interactive family-geared program.
  • Evening Program
    Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 7:30 - 8:15 pm
    Meet at the Grand Canyon Lodge Auditorium
    Join a ranger for a deep dive into the complex layers of the Canyon’s history, ecology, geology and more.

David Koener

David is an emeritus professor of astronomy at Northern Arizona University. He also has a master's degree in instrumental performance.

During his residency, he'll be combining his two loves by presenting a number of night sky talks, along with astronomy-related music performances.

His themed message is “Deep Time in Earth and Sky.”

Heritage Days takes place on the North Rim August 1st-4th 2024.

Camp inside the park on the North Rim. Sites are by reservation only (no hook-ups) through recreation.gov. 2024 Season: May 15 - October 15.
