Golden Spike National Historical Park is dedicated to providing a great visitor experience. The Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA) requires that fee revenue be used to improve the visitor experience. Entrance fee revenues are a major source of income that help to improve visitor facilities and infrastructure. At least 80% of funding from recreation fees stay in the park where it is collected, and the remaining 20% is used to benefit parks that do not collect fees or parks that generate only a small amount of revenue.
Here are some of the ways your fees are used:
Repairing and maintaining our replica locomotives
Installing visitor seating at the last spike site
Providing visitor services, ranger programs, and locomotive demonstrations
