Temporary Beach Closure Location:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project area enclosed by construction fencing on South Ocean Beach, immediately north and west of the Sloat Boulevard parking lot, extending south approximately 3,000 feet (see attached map).

Duration of Temporary Beach Closure:

From Sunday, August 8, 2021 through Monday, September 6, 2021, 24-hours each day, unless shortened or extended due to project requirements Who is affected by the Temporary Beach Closure? Except in an emergency or by administrative (NPS, USACE, contractor) personnel and for the duration of the closure to the above listed area, all public use shall be prohibited Justification for Temporary Beach Closure: Public and employee safety.

Additional Justification/Details for Temporary Beach Closure:

The Sand Nourishment project led by USACE involves the pumping of sand and use of heavy equipment on the beach. It is necessary to maintain a public closure of the project area to reasonably protect the public and employees during these activities.
