Logistics The field trip consists of a 3 hour roundtrip experience departing from Page, Arizona on a boat tour arranged through park concessionaire, Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas. Why a Boat Tour? Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is an extremely vast and remote with amazing stories to tell our local youth. Most of Glen Canyon’s environs can only be accessed by boat or via a multi-day backpacking trip, posing geographical and economical challenges for many potential visitors. The Open Outdoors for Kids program serves to make the experience more accessible for local youth, and to give them a chance to explore this unique environment and the significance it holds for many area tribal nations.
