Trail to the Past

Visitors seeking an easier walk than the strenuous hike to the Cliff Dwellings can easily access pictographs and a small dwelling from the Lower Scorpion Campground.

This trail begins from the Lower Scorpion Campground, only 1/2 mile from the Gila Cliff Dwellings trailhead. An interpretative sign located close to the restroom will give you directions when you arrive. A 1-2 minute walk will bring you to a wall of pictographs. A 5-minute walk will bring you to a small three-room dwelling. The trail is gravel.
