This is the birthday of the opening of the original Fort Union in 1851, which will be marked with a special program and tour at 1 pm.

Candlelight Tours

Guided tours by lantern light through the old fort will take visitors to a series of skits, which this year will highlight the contributions of women to the fort and the surrounding area. Tours are limited to 20, so reservations are required beginning July 8. Tour times to be announced.

Only open to the public once a year, the First Fort and Arsenal site offers the unique opportunity to walk the grounds where Fort Union's legacy began. Program includes living history and historic weapons demonstrations. Car caravans depart visitor center for First Fort at 9:45 am, 11:45 am, and 1:45 pm.
