Be a Teacher Ranger Teacher at Fort Smith NHS

The nationwide Teacher Ranger Teacher (TRT) program is a great opportunity for teachers to work with the National Park Service. Fort Smith NHS is one of the many parks that hire TRTs to assist our education team during the summer. Teachers can then take their park experiences back into the classroom in the fall.

The TRT program offers teachers new skills in professional development and experiential learning. The program is a partnership between the National Park Service and the University of Colorado Denver. Teachers will spend 4-6 weeks working with Fort Smith National Historic Site staff developing education lesson plans and programs, as well as participating in an online graduate course from the University of Colorado Denver.

HOW TO APPLY:
Fort Smith National Historic Site accepts applications at any point throughout the year. Any K-12 teacher can apply for a TRT position. Please email the Chief of Interpretation (Nissa_Mondahl@nps.gov) for more information. Available TRT positions are dependent upon the park securing funding for the program.

We look forward to hearing from you!
