![]() NPS Water: A water fountain and water bottle filling station are in the Visitor Center. There is also a water fountain near the front of the Old Bedlam historic building on the historic grounds. Service Dogs: Fort Laramie National Historic Site follows National Park Service policy relating to service dogs. The National Park Service defines a service dog as “a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.” To view the policy, please click here (Service Animals in National Parks (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) Emotional support animals, as well as other pets, are not permitted in the Visitor Center. They are allowed on the grounds as long as they are on a leash and under control at all times. Parking Lot: There are several designated accessible parking spaces near the Post Trader's Store and Complex. Go straight past the entrance to the large parking lot to find the accessible parking spaces. Visitor Center: There is one entrance to the Visitor Center, accessible by ramp or stairs. The ramp is located to the left of the stairs when entering the Visitor Center from the walkway. Exhibit areas are accessible, but tight turns may be necessary. There is an audio tour of the park, please as a ranger to learn how to download the app to play the audio tour to your phone. There are also braille book of our exhibits and park brochure. Please ask at the Visitor Center front desk for the binder. Theater: Access to the theater is to the left of the Visitor Center desk through the auditorium door. The door can be propped open if needed. Seating is stationary benches with cushions.The park film is closed captioned. Bathrooms: Bathrooms are located behind the visitor center or in the Enlisted Barracks. Doors are heavy and open outwards. Tight turns may be required to enter bathroom. Accessible stalls are in both bathrooms, and the door opens inward. Grounds: A paved walkway or gravel walkway are throughout the historic town site. For accessibility access to historic buildings, there are ramps with railings behind the structures. However, in some historic buildings, the floor trim may prevent wheelchairs from fully exploring historic structures. Picnic Area: Picnic area is accessible by the parking lot.
