Old Faithful
Old Faithful Geyser is a name that is nearly synonymous with Yellowstone National Park. Although Old Faithful is not the oldest, largest, or most regular geyser in Yellowstone, it erupts more frequently than any other big geyser in the park.
Old Faithful was named by members of the 1870 Washburn expedition who were fascinated by the regularity of its eruptions. Although the geyser’s average interval has lengthened through the years (due to earthquakes and vandalism), Old Faithful is still as spectacular and as predictable as it was a century ago.
