Mammoth Hot Springs
People often ask if Mammoth Hot Springs is drying up because favorite
springs are no longer active and the area may look different than
it did years before. The answer is “no.” The vents of
individual springs may become clogged with the rapid growth of travertine,
forcing water to emerge from new cracks, but the overall activity
of the entire area and the volume of water discharge remain relatively
constant. Active springs may stop, old springs may start again,
new springs may emerge. Remember, change is the rule at Mammoth!
