- Do a bit of research on the Stock Market. What is it? How does it work? How do people make and lose money?
- Using an imaginary $10,000, invest in the stock market and follow the progress of your shares. Report on it each day and then write about your success (or lack of) after a month.
- Lots of factors led to the Great Depression of the 1930s - lots of new products on the market that people wanted, banks and businesses lending money and allowing credit freely, the drought and dust storms... Make a list of events that have or might affect the country's economy in more recent times.
- Watch the movie again and pay particular attention to the part about different economic philosophies for helping the nation out of an economic depression. Write a paragraph about your first impressions of the different philosophies.
