Big Cypress National Preserve has attracted recreational off-road vehicle (ORV) use for decades. Though this traditional activity continues to this day, the National Park Service is under obligation to regulate such use in a manner that conserves resources in accordance with various legal mandates.

The role of science is integral to the formulation of sound managment policies. This project aims to improve our understanding of how wildlife (particularly amphibians and small mammals) are affected by ORV use. The study examines what changes might occur to the distribution or migration of species populations.
